Last year, a brain injury turned my life on its head. While I was resting (err, fermenting), a doctor handed me a list of nourishing foods. On it: nuts and yogurt.
“What if nuts could be yogurt?” I wondered.
With nothing to lose, I cultured some cashews and pistachios. To my surprise, they turned out thick, creamy, dreamy… heaven in a jar!
I decided to start asking bigger questions, like "what if I heal?" (I am) and "what if I start a nut yogurt company?" (watch me!)

The coconut yogurts
crane their lids: "you can be yogurt, too..?"
I wave across the store
to the little nuts in bags:
"dream! dream! dream!" I tell them,
as if it were easy,
as if it were vital
(it was).
"Oh, you're here!" you proclaim
from the aisle,
reaching for me
as if you knew me,
as if you dreamed of me,
before I had a name.
Maybe you did.
